One-third of the respondents to DI’s 2012 survey strongly agreed the result of the 2009 presidential election was legitimate. In 2014, fewer respondents strongly agreed the result of the 2014 presidential election was legitimate. However, two-thirds of respondents at least somewhat agreed that the result was legitimate, which is more than agreed in 2012 by approximately 10 percent. Notably, the number of respondents that did not know how to answer the question decreased substantially from 2012 to 2014, suggesting a higher degree of awareness related to elections in the country.
